states of me

little pieces piled up

tough enough and packed into

layers of laughter more than a few

I’m after changing states

divide escape this new landscape

I hover

over now yet slipping under

liquid flowing past my bones

broken words with stones

growing and throwing pains away

stains from each day solidify

no lie I fear though strive to hear

echoes in the emptiness inside

no where to hide

as clear smoke hugs the walls of this box I made for me

holding all my states in place

piled up to the sum of one

that time aims to define

as if change were not

everlasting
